Criminal Cases
Federal Law No. 35 of 1992 and its amendments outline the procedures for criminal cases in the United Arab Emirates. It comprises a set of rules detailing the methodology and procedures for criminal investigation, trial of defendants, issuance of judgments, conditions for appealing a judgment in higher courts, and enforcement of the judgment.
Criminal law and its related statutes form the cornerstone of safeguarding the security, safety, and interests of society by deterring offenders. By imposing appropriate penalties, the law aims to discourage individuals from engaging in criminal behavior and to protect society through general deterrence. The enforcement of penalties discourages others from committing similar crimes, while rehabilitation programs aim to reintegrate offenders as productive members of society, helping them recognize the severity of their actions. Our Firm, guided by these principles and the right to defend the accused, as enshrined in the UAE Constitution which guarantees personal freedom for all, has built extensive expertise in criminal law. The Constitution ensures that no one can be arrested, searched, detained, or imprisoned except in accordance with legal provisions. With these principles in mind, our firm has successfully defended and represented clients in hundreds of criminal cases, both misdemeanors and felonies, achieving remarkable results.
